We love doing themed dinners and movies in our house.
One of our favorite Christmas ones is our annual Grinch dinner. My kids look forward to it every year. Every time I am starting to plan out our activities and meals, the kids always remind me about the Grinch dinner. I don’t even know why it is so popular, but for some reason it stands out to them and they always want to do it! I guess that’s what makes a fun tradition.
Grinch Dinner Food
- Roast Beast- I have done a variety of different meats for this option. Basically, just something your family likes! I’ve done country fried steak, Costco shredded pork, little smokies.
- Who Hash- Some kind of potato! I’ve done hash browns, hash brown patties, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, baked potatoes.
- Garlic in your soul rolls- This is our favorite. So easy and delicious. You can find it here!
- Green Jello- So simple, but what makes it fun, is I usually put it in these fancy glass goblets that I have. The kids loving turning the cups upside down and the jello stays put!
- Grinch fruit kabobs- Strawberries, bananas, green grapes and mini marshmallows. Simple and cute! You can find the recipe here!
- Deviled Eggs- This is probably the most time consuming. I hate peeling eggs! But I just have to do it, because I really like deviled eggs! Make your favorite deviled egg recipe and dye the mixture with some green food coloring! I go way simple.
How to make easy deviled eggs:
- Hard boil the eggs. Remove the cooked yolks. Mash the yolks with a fork. Put in a couple of scoops of mayo and a squirt of mustard. Salt and pepper to taste. Dye green. Spoon back into the open eggs.
- Green drink- I just get those Hawaiian Punch drink packets. There’s usually a green one. I don’t like going to much effort for a drink, but that’s just me :). You could also just put some sliced limes in water for a green festive look.
Grinch Desserts
- Muddy Buddies- Make normal with this recipe and put in some Christmas M&Ms!
- Cupcakes- I personally don’t go to this much work, but these sure are cute!
- Rice Krispy treats- Dye the marshmallows green before you mix in the rice cereal!
- Grinch chocolate kisses- Easiest dessert ever. You can buy them here.
- Chocolate covered pretzels- So cute if you feel like dipping chocolate for a little bit! Here are some examples:
Decorations
- Think green! I will put out a green tablecloth, green plates, and green napkins. You could hang up green crepe paper and then highlight with homemade paper snowflakes. I never go to very much effort for the decor. Just something simple to give it a Grinchy feel.
And Last of All…
- Watch The Grinch! There are several different versions out there. We love the old classic animated version. You can get it here!
- We actually really like the newest version with Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the Grinch. You can get it here!
- You can also read the original book by Dr. Seuss. You can get it here!
Good luck with your own Grinch party!
