A family quote box is a great way to preserve funny memories and phrases! It always makes us laugh!
I can’t even remember from where I got this idea, but it has provided so many hours of laughter and connection between us that I will forever be grateful to whomever inspired me!
So easy to make!
It’s such a simple thing to make. An index box. Index cards. Labels for each family member. A pen. That’s all you need really!
And then get recording. How often do your kids say something hilarious? I bet it happens almost daily. How often do you mix up words and everything comes out wrong? That also happens to me almost daily.
A great family tradition
We started writing down the funny things our toddlers would say so that we could remember them. Our kids love it! One of their favorite activities is to get down the quote box and read all of the funny things they have each said over the years.
Some tips
Make sure and label the individual cards with an initial or something in case they happened to get pulled out and you can’t remember who said them. Also, make sure and put the date on each card. It is so helpful to remember how old a child was when they said a particular thing. It gives a great perspective and record into the growth of that child.
I look at our quote box as a form of family history. It is a record of us. It is a fun way to remember the past. It brings joy into our life now.
